UW Faculty Scholar Program Information
The UW Faculty Scholar Program is for faculty interested in visiting the University of Washington for 6 months between January and September 2018 (see attached application information). As stated in the attachment, we will select candidates for this training opportunity relying heavily on input from your universities to assure that the individuals who are selected will contribute to strengthening your global health capacity. Our priority selection criteria include the following considerations: 1) strong institutional support, 2) the applicant’s background and experienced in global health and potential for strengthening global health at your university, 3) outstanding academic/professional performance and potential, 4) Institutional support/funding for faculty scholars to participate in research or projects in a low or middle-income country during their time at UW. Applications are due September 15th.
Afya Bora Faculty Fellowship Program
The Afya Bora Fellowship Program is a one-year fellowship in Africa designed to provide future global health leaders with practical skills that are currently not part of traditional training in the health professions (see program description attached). To date, one faculty scholar from Fudan University has completed the program and expressed that the experience was extremely valuable. A second faculty scholar from Central South University started the program in July. Application materials for this program are the same as for the UW faculty scholar opportunity (CV, goal statement, three letters of recommendation). Applicants for Afya Bora should specifically address their interest and qualifications for the fellowship in their goal statement and letters of recommendation.
If faculty are interested in both programs they only need to submit one set of application materials but will want to discuss this in the goal statement.
